We woke up, grabbed breakfast and immediately jumped onto the golf course to start Day #2 of our Father Son Golf Trip at River Ridge in Oxnard.  We quickly moved our way around the golf course and when all was said and done, I had come out on top for the golf portion of our trip shooting a 78, Rocky shot an 89 and Dad shot a 97.

For the two-day trip, Zeb amassed a 167, Rocky and Dad tied at 187.  All in all, it was another great Father-Son Golf Trip. We are really lucky that we get the chance to make this trip every year and always have a blast doing it.

Thanks Dad for such a great time!

Every year since I was 13 years old, my Dad has taken me on a Father-Son Golf Trip.  When my brother turned 13, he joined us on our annual adventure and over the years we have played courses in Temecula, San Diego, Palm Springs, Mexico, Buellton, among many others.  This year we played golf at River Ridge Golf Course in Oxnard.

We woke up at 9 AM, and made our way towards Oxnard, stopping at a Farmers Boys for breakfast along the way.  We played a very competitive round of golf.  I shot an 89, my Dad shot a 90 and Rocky shot a 97.  My Dad had a lot of great shots and I was pretty consistent throughout the day, except for my putting.  I had two 4 putts which is not very good, but in my defense, those greens were tough to read.

We made it back to our hotel and got ready for a night on the town.  We headed to a place called Victoria Pub & Grill.  A very fancy establishment.  We played some NTN trivia which you may have seen at a few places, and then played several games of pool.  My Dad ran the table on us in one game which I have never seen done before in a game of cut-throat.  He was on his A game.

We made it back to the Hotel and headed for the jacquizzi, which was very pleasant and we were able to catch up on each other’s goings ons in life.  Then back to our room where we played two games of Gin 13, Rocky took both games.

For the day, I was the best golfer, Dad was the pool shark and Rocky could not be beat in cards.  We called it a night and turned into bed . . . ready for Day #2 of our Father-Son Golf Trip.

All my friends thought that my feet had cancer.  I ran a marathon a month and a half ago and the remnants of it can still be seen in my feet.  I have played soccer my whole life and have always had callouses, but they are worse than they have ever been.  Anyone have any remedies for my feet that I could use to make them better again?

Foot Cancer . . . Not

We have been writing on The Running Brothers for 6 months now and I am pretty sure that I have been spelling Triathlon wrong for the entire 6 months.  I was writing a post on it and noticed the red spell check line underneath the Triathalon which it never really corrected before.  I thought, “That’s weird.” So, I ran to my nearest Dictionary and ripped off the shelf.

Sure enough, I have been writing a blog for 6 months on being a Triathlete and have been spelling Triathalon wrong and no one told me.  I’m dissappointed in my heroes out there . . . but, I guess I can’t blame you.  Perhaps that’s why we were leading the Google Search rankings for our Triathalons . . . Haha.

What’s better than doing a Sprint Triathlon? Doing a Sprint Triathlon for 30 days straight, that’s what!

My brother and I signed up for the San Luis Obispo Triathlon at the end of July and in order to prepare for it, I have decided to do the full distance of that triathlon every single day for 30 days in order to build up my speed on the course for race day.  I will be posting my times for these triathlons from time to time so be sure to follow up on my posts. Check in to see how I am doing from time to time and give me some words of encouragement.

Just for your information, the San Luis Obispo sprint triathlon is a .5 mile swim, a 15.3 mile bike ride and a 3.1 mile run.

The actual date for the SLO Triathlon is on Sunday, July 24.  I want to give myself some rest before race day and need to include some black out dates for planned vacations which means that I will start doing these Triathlons next Monday, June 13 2011. Make sure to follow my exploits on Twitter and Facebook.

Music and Ipods have become a huge part of training these days and my brother and I have always tried to find the perfect music or podcasts to listen to on our runs.  We post this question to our Twitter followers every once in a while in order to see what other people listen to.

@TheRoad2WD responded with a blog post that he had written for his website, http://road2warriordash.wordpress.com/.  His blog post on his Ipod selection can be found here, http://road2warriordash.wordpress.com/2011/03/31/the-road-beyond-warrior-dash-its-not-my-fault-you-hate-your-boyfriend/.  It’s quite the collection of music and I would love to generate a comprehensive list of some of the best podcasts and music to listen to while training.  Feel free to add music to our list by commenting on our website.

@OrgasmicChef called us buggers!  The nerve!!!  Wait, what the heck is a “bugger?”

Since starting this website, we have learned so much.  We have learned about the “Farmer’s Blow,” “Going Gluten Free,” “The Post Race Blues and the “Chamois” (all of which you can find here, http://runningbrothers.com/category/new-vocabulary/

Now, I have heard Australian’s or New Zealander’s say “bugger” before, but I never really knew what it meant.  So, after calling us “buggers,” which I considered an offensive term, @OrgasmicChef sent us this video explaining the word.

After watching the video, I still have no idea what it means.  I think we were called jerks . . . What do you think?
