My goal was to be in the best shape of my life at the age of 30 and although I am close, I did not quite make my goal. I went to the gym religiously for the first 20 days of the challenge, but my mental toughness began to wane and I copped out early giving myself one week to relax prior to my 30th Birthday.

I really feel like I have been doing an excellent job at keeping up with my training program. There have been a few hiccups here and there, but all in all I am getting more training in. So far, the most difficult part for me to stick to is completing the swimming portion of my training each week. The pool can become quite boring and the clorinated water has an effect on your body that does not want to make you stay in there for too long.

At 30, I can not say that I am in the best shape of my life, but I can say that I will be in the best shape of my life at the age of 30. That I can guarantee.

I have 11 days to get into the best shape of my life and surprisingly, I might actually get there.   I have been eating much more frequently and heartily.  My appetite has picked up because I am doing a lot of strength exercising and I’m drinking a lot of water.  I still don’t think I’m in the best shape I have ever been.  One thing that I have always wanted was 6-pack abs and at one point in my life I was close.  I remember flexing in the mirror, checking to see if I had them and they were there but only when I flexed. 

Now, when I flex, my 6-pack abs do not show up, but I have trimmed down a lot and am looking very healthy.  So, I’m going to work out hardcore on cardio and ab workouts and we’ll see if I can get that 6-pack coming throught in the next 10 days.

I have a confession to make, I have not been true to my plan, but I do have a legitimate reason.  i wanted to make sure that I could perform my best at The Race on the Base, so I took several days off of my training and since I completed the triathalon on Saturday, I will be heading back to the gym today and working harder than ever to get into the best shape of my life. 

I have been doing much better on cooking my own meals and eating more often.  Not quite up to three times a day, but much better than once a day.  I have also committed to cooking lunch for my entire family at least twice a week, so that definitely should help.  Tonight I’ll be cooking some barbecue chicken and tomorrow it’ll be beef patties and onion soup.  Neither of which I have ever cooked before.  It should be interesting, only 19 more days until I am 30.  Yikes!

Yesterday was for the most part a success, I spent 4 hours at the gym; biking, running, swimming and lifting weights.  I made myself breakfast and dinner.  Which although still is not three meals, is an improvement.  I made cereal in the morning and cooked chicken mixed in with some vegetables for dinner.  This is quite an accomplishment since I hardly ever cook.  I have noticed; however, that I am much more tired than n0rmal.  Today, I slept in until noon and went to bed around one last night.

It is now noon and I’m going to begin Day #2 of The 30 Day Plan.  Time to make me some eggs.
