RockyWell day one and I already find myself searching for energy to start my training. So I thought to myself, those Amish seem like motivated folks. How would the Amish research ways to get motivated to exercise? Like anyone else they would google it, right?

So after googleing away 30 mins of good potential working out time I realized the generetic, you will feel better or burn calories just won’t work for me. So I decided I would list some of the reasons that make me want to run that aren’t so generic:

  1. I want to support my brother
  2. I currently am in the midst of 50 lbs weight loss challenge (I am half way)
  3. I get to be alone with my thoughts (usually this means not having any thoughts)

What are some of the things that help to motivate you when you are trying to workout?

I guess for the purposes of reaching my goal of running a marathon it really doesn’t matter why or how I get motivated, it just matters that I do something………….30 mins of good hard rowing and I feel good and 500 calaries burned (go figure).

One Response to “Finding Motivation, Thanks Amish!”

  1. ZebThe Amish certainly would not Google how to exercise for several reasons, but here is a list of the top ways the Amish would exercise:

    1. If they do not, they will starve. It’s a well known fact that the Amish must create their own food, therefore every day they must go out into the farm and work on the land for pretty much the entire day. I would be willing to bet that those Amish are in pretty good shape.
    2. They would not have electricity. The Amish don’t believe in conventional ways of gaining electricity through power plants and what not. The Amish do it the old fashion way, with several members of the group riding a stationary bicycle all day long, thus generating electricity.
    3. The only thing the Amish do for fun is swim, and swimming is exercise as well. They are also never allowed to take off the traditional overalls and clothing. Just imagine swimming in the local lake or river fully clothed.

To recap, the Amish know a thing or two about exercise. So, worrying about starvation, having electricity and enjoying life are some other things that may help to motivate you. Just ask the Amish.
