I had the best of intentions.  I set my goal 30 days before the San Luis Obispo Triathlon to run 30 Sprint Triathlons in 30 days to prepare myself for the event.

I did it twice.

If you read my previous post, you’ll understand why I only was able to do it twice.  A great business opportunity got in the way of my traning.  My two Sprint Triathlons were completed in the gym and I did both of them in 1 hour and 40 minutes approximately three weeks before the SLO Triathlon.

I was not in peak shape, and as far as I knew, my brother hadn’t done any training either.  The San Luis Obispo Triathlon was going to be interesting . . . to say the least.

Earlier this week, I mentioned my plan to run 15 sprint triathlons in 19 days.  Unfortunately, this has proven to be impossible.  Work has picked up immensely in the past two weeks, including two separate presentations which have been taking up most of my time.  I still plan on completing many more sprint triathlons in the upcoming weeks, but I just know that I won’t be able to get 15 in like I had said earlier.

Last week, I ran two triathlons and both were completed in 1 hour and 40 minutes.  I need to improve on that time, so my training levels definitely need to pick up in the next couple of weeks.

A week and a half ago I posted that I was going to do 30 sprint triathlons for 30 days in a row . . . well, I didn’t manage to do that either, but I am starting that program today . . . I just don’t think I will be doing 30 in 30 days.  I think I’m going to make it 15 Sprint Triathlons in 19 days since our Sprint Triathlon will be on the the 24th and I can account for some rest time in between.  I have a feeling the my times will be extremely slow at the start since I haven’t been training.

You caught me in another lie . . . You must be proud of yourself.  Follow along to find out how I do on my 15 Sprint Triathlon in 19 days challenge.

What’s better than doing a Sprint Triathlon? Doing a Sprint Triathlon for 30 days straight, that’s what!

My brother and I signed up for the San Luis Obispo Triathlon at the end of July and in order to prepare for it, I have decided to do the full distance of that triathlon every single day for 30 days in order to build up my speed on the course for race day.  I will be posting my times for these triathlons from time to time so be sure to follow up on my posts. Check in to see how I am doing from time to time and give me some words of encouragement.

Just for your information, the San Luis Obispo sprint triathlon is a .5 mile swim, a 15.3 mile bike ride and a 3.1 mile run.

The actual date for the SLO Triathlon is on Sunday, July 24.  I want to give myself some rest before race day and need to include some black out dates for planned vacations which means that I will start doing these Triathlons next Monday, June 13 2011. Make sure to follow my exploits on Twitter and Facebook.
