The Running Brothers are returning to their roots. We started our running in one of our favorate Cities, San Luis Obispo. You can read our previous running advantures in SLO, all the way back in December.

That was our first real training day and I think we have come alot. Now we are going back for our second triathalon. The 32nd Annnual SLO Triathalon will be on July 24, 2011 and the running brothers will be there ready to run, bike and swim.

You may have read that our family has a pretty close connection to San Luis Obispo. Our mother grew up in SLO, our father attended the California Scholastic Press Association Workshop and subseqently lead for work show for nearly 30 years. Our parents meet at that workshop at the California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo. My brother, Sister and I all attended the workshop. Our family made regular trips to SLO to see our family. So needless to say SLO has a special place in our hearts.

If you want to join us let us know, if you want to make the drive or are a local and want to cheer us on that would be fantastic.

WISH US LUCK!!!

What’s better than doing a Sprint Triathlon? Doing a Sprint Triathlon for 30 days straight, that’s what!

My brother and I signed up for the San Luis Obispo Triathlon at the end of July and in order to prepare for it, I have decided to do the full distance of that triathlon every single day for 30 days in order to build up my speed on the course for race day.  I will be posting my times for these triathlons from time to time so be sure to follow up on my posts. Check in to see how I am doing from time to time and give me some words of encouragement.

Just for your information, the San Luis Obispo sprint triathlon is a .5 mile swim, a 15.3 mile bike ride and a 3.1 mile run.

The actual date for the SLO Triathlon is on Sunday, July 24.  I want to give myself some rest before race day and need to include some black out dates for planned vacations which means that I will start doing these Triathlons next Monday, June 13 2011. Make sure to follow my exploits on Twitter and Facebook.

I hustled my way over to the pool to perform my 200 Meter swim.  And I had been practicing for months and really thought that I was going to demolish my swimming time from the year before.  I jumped in the pool and immediately began to pass people, until I got behind some idiot who was doing the breast stroke.

Everyone was swimming at his pace and there was no way that I could get past the guy because his legs were continually spreading out like you would imagine a frog would in the pool of water.  I kept trying to get past him and that really sapped my energy.

Zeb Race on the Base Swim

The pool that I had been training in was half the size of the pool that I competed in.  I did not think it would make that much of a difference, but it did.  Each lap felt so much longer than the laps I had been used to and when I sprinted the last 50 Meters in the pool, it just seemed like the end was never coming.  But, eventually I made it, completed the swim and ran into my Dad, Mom, sister and Dusty.  They congratulated me on a job well done, but man . . . was I tired.

Now, it was time to wait for my brother . . . who I had not seen since I pushed him at the beginning of the race.
